The Law of Impermanence states that everything in the universe shares the same characteristic: the characteristic of arising and passing away. The world as we know it is coming to an end, though not in the way popular movies would have us believe: in a great and terrifying succession of tsunamis, earthquakes, asteroid impacts and solar flares. The end is coming as a shift in consciousness, a new phase of being, of thinking, of dreaming and of relating.

Melanie began practicing yoga in 2002. She was awakened to the importance of the mind-body connection, and whole-heartedly began to delve deeper into the study of Eastern philosophy, alternative healing modalities, metaphysics and various spiritual practices. She eventually earned her certificate in massage therapy. As she committed more fully to her yoga practice, she was presented with the opportunity to teach. She took her teacher training under Audrey Walzer and enrolled in anatomy, kinesiology and physiology along with her fine art classes during her undergraduate years at CSU Channel Islands. She began teaching to teen girls in 2006, and has since then taught public, prenatal, corporate and private classes to students of all ages and abilities. She continues to study and practice, with a special interest in Shadow Yoga.
"Healing the self means committing ourselves to a wholehearted willingness to be what and how we are--beings frail and fragile, strong and passionate, neurotic and balanced, diseased and whole, partial and complete, stingy and generous, safe and dangerous, twisted and straight, storm-tossed and quiescent, bound and free."
